JOHN OGDEN
is a 44 year old, full time figurative artist, working
from his home based studios either in the Republic
of Ireland or now in Glastonbury,
South West of England.
Born in Bristol in 1965, John, recalls that both
drawing and painting were a natural focus for him,
however due to the usual pressures of life he found
himself being a talented teenager but unable to
find a channel for his work.
After a number of jobs and emotional upheaval, John
started work as an advertising designer for a number
of regional newspapers, before in 2002 and at the
age of 37 being offered the chance to train under
controversial Plymouth artist Robert Lenkiewicz.
John packed his bags and moved to Cornwall to
fulfil his dream. However, following Robert's
untimely death a few months later he was left
to carry on alone, to fulfil his own dream, continuing
to develop his talents and create his own individual,
style.
Initially John obtained permission from the Birmingham
Royal Ballet and the Rambert Dance Company allowing
him to sketch dancers during rehearsals; however
after producing a number of dance inspired pieces
John was asked to paint his first female nude,
and became inspired, the rest is now history.
John Ogden's stylised look on life is a world
of passion and secrecy, all the models are genuine
women from all walks of life, many have never
posed for anyone before.
“They have lived life, had children, experienced
love, passion and emotions, many have lost confidence
in themselves, so we are honored to be welcomed
into their own private world…proving all women
are beautiful” |
